Bargain Tyres
I got what I think was a real bargain this week.
I got Yokahama A539 195/45 R16 80V , RPB asymmetric tyres fitted and balanced with valves and VAT for £46.25 a corner
I was well chuffed with that
I couldn't even find them on the web for that price

Where was that?
I'll soon need a pair of tyres for my tin-top.

Does anyone rate these tyres?
Got them on the front of the MK, but haven't had chance to push it yet. Have heard people on other forums saying they arnt that great.

Had them on my Avon.
4k miles.
No problems in wet or dry.
Great grip on trackday.
Hardly any wear.
Would use them again.
Too soft for a tin top though I'd say.
Good price that as well.

I'm really glad to hear that as I didn't do a great deal of research on these before I bought them.
I basically took the advice of 2 people a mate who had used them on a track day car and the tyre supplier who assured me they were a good medium to
soft tyre.
Happy now

The tyres are great for road and track day use.
They provide good grip in the dry and will give about 5 - 10 hard laps before they start going off and overheating. no problem for general track
use.
People will say R888 of A048 are better and they are, but they cost more

Hi the yoko a539's are standard regulation fittment on the locost race cars there have never been any probs whith them . Aldo there are better
tyres for road and track use these are exelent value for money and will stand a whole days track daying whith out probs. On the race cars they will
last a whole season even after being buffed down to 4mm to start with.
cheers matt

We're restricted to running A539s in the 750MC race series and they're generally very good.
Dry grip is plentiful and very progressive for reasonable slip angles. Braking and wet grip are also fine.
When still fully treaded and used hard they do heat up fairly quickly hard but if you keep the pressures above 20psi then you can do 15-20 minutes on
track before they go off.
They also last very well.

What size do you use in the 750MC racing? I am building with 13" laser alloy wheels 7J and wondered if these are available in a suitable size
for road use?
