sierra shafts

can someone confirm or otherwise that

a) xr4x4 has wider than standard sierra rear track, if so by how much

and

b)xr4x4 drive shaft to outer cv joint splines, are the same as on
i standard disc braked sierra
ii push in shaft sierra

a Dunno sorry.
b1 yes they are the same.
b2 some push in shafts are different (smaller).

According to my sierra V6 Haynes book (which also covers the 4x4) the only differences in rear track are between estate (1458mm) and saloon (1468mm). No different track for a 4x4.

There's so much travel in the CV joints though (at least 40mm per shaft) that it can't matter anyway. It's common practice for the manafacturers (MK etc etc) to use 4x4 rear ends as donors with no problems.

If you're using GB Engineering shafts the don't worry anyway (have a u2u from Liam mentioning using them)

They are "long spline" anyway and the shaft can slide in the CV splines (circlipped one side only) meaning they have masses of travel
