Bloody Brake Pipes and them nut things...

Ok, admit it...

Who's spent ages fitting a brake pipe, getting all the bends perfect and all p clips riveted on, ends flared perfectly and then...

Forgot to thread on the nut !!!

Shall I redo the whole thing, or add in a female/male connector somewhere in its length ?

Pat...

LOL. We've done that on at least one occasion, so you're not alone Pat Can you not cut the flare off, thread the nut on and re-form the flare in-situ?

Phil

Nope - it's just around a corner and cut perfectly to size.

Probably a new pipe I reckon...

All in a days work!

Just want to see how many other will admit to it as well!

it's worse when you thread both unions on the same way, so one's back to front!

seems doubly stupid compared to just forgetting.

i have more trouble forgetting to put heatshrink on before soldering wires.

I had a dodgy T piece that wouldn't seal but first tried to remake the flare.

I got an inline "shunt" from mac#1, solved the problem.

Y'know, having done it once, you'd think I'd learn, but nope, put it down to age , senility, or whatever, having created my best ever flare I DID IT AGAIN

I call it my Duraplug moment (how many of you out there have wired up those rubber plugs and realised too late that you haven't put the cable through the plug top first) seriously annoying.

Put me down on the Muppet list too.
But I created a new league when after working through the night to fit a new clutch to my mini, I jumped in, started it up and then spotted the new clutch plate on the passenger seat.......bugger.

clutch on my pinto went a few years back.

Engine out, clutch out, new one in, engine back in.

Refitting the clutch cable and noticed the outer sheath was all melted on the exhaust manifold

Clutch was fine just the cable that was buggered....................

I wont do it again though
