Track rods binding

Hi

I have just trial fitted my trailing arms to the Cortina axle using the book brackets and dimensions.

The brackets allow 150mm of axle movement from full bounce to full droop before the trailing arms bind on the axle - is this normal or should I be worried and maybe re-make the brackets with a little more than the 4.3" between suspension arms shown in P72 of the book.

I imagine binding trailing arms could be disastrous!

That will be ok , maximum damper travel is likely to be about 4 inches depending on which ones you use. Most people have the axle about an inch from the chassis rails at full droop and 4 inches of upwards travel. You will need to decide on where the rear shocks are going to fit , either as the book on top of the brackets or on the trailing arm bolts to decide on the length required. Book type mounts are about 12 inch open 8 inch closed length dampers and trailing arms 13 to 14 inch open and 9 inch closed.
Paul.
