English diff, prop shaft oil seal
Hi guys, how do I replace the oil seal on the propshaft flange, I am a bit concerned about the crush tubes on the pinion.

If u mark up excactly where the nut is before u take it off and count the number of turns its ok to take off. Then whip the seal out and put the new
on back in. Do the nut up exactly how it came out and the crush tube is not affected too much..
I changed mine a while ago.

You can buy the crush tubes - burton sell them - so that is not the problkem; what is though, is that although Haynes tells you how to mesure the
preload, it does not say what the preload is

Is the preload not the prssure between the pinion and the crownwheel?.

Hi stevezoid i see from your avatar you are building a locost to race in wich case get the diff done profesionaly other wise you stand the chance of
scrapping the cw+p and they are hard to find these days so if you have a good one you need to look after it . £ wise £120 is usual price to rebuild a
diff for competition use with all the extra little triks included.

HI trick bits are top secret unless having a job done but perfectly legal plus you get advice on oils to run as bhp loss in a locost is your number
one enemy . PS if not local we are not the only people who do the trick mods but all will keep them secret unless having the job done. PPS what diff
ratio are you going to run as there is also speed to be found in that as well. I am off on holiday for a fortnight tommorow but as of 1 july will be
back if you need info on diff ratio to suit g/box.
cheers matt
