Master cylinder - where to buy
I need to replace my donor master cylinder - Girling steel tube type from a 2.0 SOHC sapphire.
Best price I have found is ~£78 from Brakes Int, but that seems a bit steep. Anyone suggext a cheaper source?
They also sell overhaul kits for ~£25 - what sort of job is it to strip and rebuild?
Cheers
Nick

Rebuild depends on the state of the bore, ie whether its scored or not. no good putting in a repair kit if the bore is scored.
What about a scrap yard job?.. get a couple while you are there
Brakepats are very good... sound like an expensive bit.
Also tried Ebay?.

I've got 3 sierra master cylinders that came with my part built kit if any of them are any use mate?
I'm using a lightweight alloy jobby ford unit instead.
If you're interested I can take some pics and they are yours for the price of postage

You couldn't pwn your way out of a wet paper bag, with "PWN ME!!" written on it, from the "pwned take-away" which originally contained one
portion of chicken tikka pwnsala and the obligatory free pwnpadom.

Hi Nige!
Not there yet I'm afraid, but building up steam I'll give Totton factors a call and see if they can help.
Part of the problem is that I have already installed the old one and so I want to replace with the same to avoid having to move the brake pipes
around. Otherwise I would just pick something suitable and cheap to fit in there
How's yours coming along - any up to date pics?
Cheers

I beleive one of the cast ones matches the positions of the connections on the steel tube type - but you also have to be careful about the mounting
hole alignment!

Hi Nick, My unit that i replaced was the same for mounting fitment and brake pipe position. They had the two types Girling and the other??
Yes nearly finished, a couple of small jobs to do. One is to cut the bonnet for exhaust and carbs, not looking forward to that.
I will post pics soon.
Cheers Nige
