tyres-whats a goodun?
any one got any thoughts on the best boots?
an all rounder leaning more toward grip but can handle the wet

Do you want the grippiest money can buy - with no worreis as to wear rate - and possibly wet weather ability?
Or do you want a good all rounder, that sacrifices grip for a better wear rate, and more chance of getting home in one piece if you get caught out in
a downpour?
Dont just build it.....make it!

personal preference, Yoko A539's, or if you want a bit cheeper Yoko S306's.

Yoko AO48R med compound.
4000 miles, 6 track days and just replaced the rears. Fronts still only half worn.
Very sticky in the dry and break away progressively, interesting in the wet !

I recently got a set of Yoko A539s and I'm pretty pleased with them. £195 fully fitted, balanced the lot. 15" 195 x 60.
For track days I have a spare set of rims with some competition only Dunlop SP (front) and Pirrelli rear, they're ex-rally intermediates and
very soft. And best of all they were free (second hand still plenty of rubber left).
A lot of folks over here seem to go towards dedicated track day tires because it's such an easy performance upgrade.

v. good mixed weather tyre (tried vs most others bar yokos) is bridgestone potenza re 720. cheap too, £45 apiece fitted for 195-65-14"

toyo t1-r and falken ze512 have done well in my book, gonna try nsdevs suggestion next time round on the tintop..

Just fitted BFGoodrich G-force profiler tyres to my tin top... did a lot of research first and found that in most reviews they performed as well as
Toyo proxes or better. plus they are about £10 cheaper. You had to go for a pretty expensive tyre to beat it. Since fitting have done several hundred
miles and can report, they are slightly noisy but have fantastic grip, make my old firestones look like a joke!
