Shortening MT75 gearstick
What is the easiest way to achieve a quickshift on the MT75 gearbox, apart from buying that overpriced Westfield thing (that looks as if it
doesn't use the reverse gate... nasty...)? Assume that my welding skills are probably not up to the task of actually shortening the stick
itself, although I may have ago in the end.

Have a look at this page. I did it with my type 9 and it works well. if you shorten the lever cut the rubber bit out the middle. That makes it feel
better straight away.

Hi just fitted one from www. burtonpower.com part no QS03K cost just over £16 works a treat on the box but havent been on the road with it.makes my
type 9 gearbox tight and short.
the cars looking good" a blind man would be pleased to see it"

This was for a Mk 9 box - can't say whether it would fit a MT75.

Humm - Type 9 != MT75
The real problem here is that the MT75 gearchange has an outer sheath that slides up & down (spring loaded) to enable you to select reverse. I
think the Type 9 stick is just that - a stick (albeit with a ball mounted on the gearbox end). It looks quite easy to modify the type 9 shift to do
proper quickshifting but the MT75 stick is a different matter. And Westfield want over 200 quid for theirs!

All the kits do is move the pivot point up, lengthen the end in the gearbox and shorten the knob end (excuse me!). Changes the ratio and you get a
quick shift.
I have a Burtons one for the Escort box, we have made a quickshift here at work for an Alfa and it works lovely. On the Alfa we moved the pivot point
up by 25mm and halved the throw of the lever.
I think that if you are clever you should be able to make one complete with the reversing mech.
