MK donor part modifications

Hi all,
Just looking at the MK Indy parts list. Can someone advise me of how the sierra uprights are modified as I'm considering doin it myself to save a few £££s. (Ive looked at past threads but they dont appear to go into enough detail)

Likewise, how awkward is it to modify the steering joint - i assume its just the standard sierra one shortened?

I think I'll leave the propshaft mod to the pros as i dont fancy that breaking!

Cheers

Also, is it normal to fall in love with the donor vehicle??!!! Mine is better than my current car with its electric windows, clean seats and working radio - I'm gonna feel so bad ripping it to bits!!

MK experts will be along shortly but im sure it is to ream out the ball joint hole to change the taper.
Id guess the correct reamer will cost more than getting MK to do it.

As said you also need prop and steering rack modded so all in it wont add much to the build. Probs easier to budget more in other areas.

You'll get them done as part of the kit price when you buy it.

Do you have the donor parts yet? I bought a donor pack from MK already modified (uprights and steering rack).

love the username

As darren says, the lower taper is changed, they have a jig to hold it correctly under a drill press. Ive heard of people using grinding paste and an old ball joint, but that doesnt sound much fun.

I feel the same about my donor....cleanest old car I've ever seen.
I'm leaving it out in the garden for a couple of months to deteriorate before I start on it.
