Front Hubs / Rear Axle Question
Hi all, I've gone into brain overload and am now just completely confused. Im building as 'book' a locost as possible, using a
blacktop Zetec 2.0 and Type 9 (Hopefully) And I'm trying to decide on the running gear. I've been looking at sierra front hubs and escort
rear axle, but I'm getting concern as to whether I'll be able to get hold of one. Are they still easy to get hold of? and Sierra Hubs will
be OK to go with this yeah? Some advice please guys!!!
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Sierra hubs(Uprights) are used on wide track cars along with the sierra rear end to suit, the escort axle is a couple of inches narrower so to keep
the original sizes you'l need to use Cortina uprights and w/bones to suit.
Hope this helps

Ah ok. So I'll be needing a set of Cortina Hubs, Uprights, Brakes Etc. Now for the rear axle. Are these still fairly available? As I said my
main concern is that I won't be able to get hold of one. Also howm uch should I be looking to pay for one?
Regards and thanks again,
Matt

Axles are still about but are getting a bit thin on the ground, depending on where you are though you could look along the lines of rally spares or
places like that, Mine was about £50 I think. It depends on the time of year I guess, you would also pay a bit extra if the brackets were all ready
welded on for you, so price is difficult to predict due to the different possabilities of condition, Don't let it disuay you though, if you
can't find one now, give it a couple of weeks and two would probably turn up

Hi there is no reason why you can't run an escort axle in the back and use sierra uprights at the front with the right wishbones.
Price for a escort axle should be about £50. For use with the zetec try and get one with a 3.9 ratio which are the more common ones.
And if going with the sierra front uprights also try and get a set with the solid disc on altho they are quite rare these days just that they are
lighter than the vented ones which you don't realy need. If you can only find a set with vented dont worry as it won't make any real
difference just a bit more weight .
Which ones you use cortina or sierra wont realy make any real difference either just a case of which you find first at the better price altho you will
need different wishbones and bracket positions for each.
cheers matt
