lifting off trestles
Hi
Well tomorrow the chassis is coming off the trestles and the engines going in weather permitting
Daft question before I possibly make a massive mistake. The suspension units are normally under compression when the car is on the road, I'm
planning on fitting the wheels whilst it on the trestles then lifting it straight onto the floor so it can be rolled out of the garage.
Will fitting the wheels when the car is up on trestles either damage the dampers by exerting a pulling force rather than a compression and secondly
will the weight of the wheels and tyres pull the suspension down and under so it's awkward to drop straight onto it's wheels.
I know it's a daft question but the more i think about it the more I'm worried i could make a huge balls up before i even get the car on
the floor.
hope my question make sense and thanks for any assistance

No problem there are lots of things restricting downward movement. I managed to drop mine off the trestles single handed though I doubt i could put it
back up again on my own! It was fully built up with wheels and suspension. now on axle stands with suspension in bits again :-(

Shouldn't be a problem if it's only for a few minutes.
After all, you can't fit the wheels if you don't have the car suspended off the ground!

No problems just make sure when the suspension is hanging the arms cant touch the side panels or anything.
