GTS Panhard Rod Fixing

Does anyone know what size bolt GTS use to attach the rose joint on the end of the Panhard Rod to the de Dion axle?

The thread in the axle seems to be 12mm but the rose joint has a 1/2" bore. Or am I just being dim?

I've e-mailed Darren but while I'm waiting to hear back I just thought someone on here might be able to tell me.

TIA,

Mart.

The thread on the axle is M12 and the rod end in the end of the panhard rod is half inch UNF thread, so yes a half inch bore, , i think i remember people saying they used a coke tin to shim the shank of the bolt

Sorry for the hijack but has anyone else building a GTS noticed the same as me........

When the rod end is bolted to the dedion beam with no spacer or washer between the rod end and the boss on the beam my panhard rod fouls on the welding in at the mid poin on the dedion beam.

I need to put a 20mm spacer between the rod end face and the boss on the beam to move the panhard rod away from the weld on the beam. With the spacer in it seems to be putting undue stresses on the bush at the other end of the panhard rod.

Hope that makes sence!

Calvin, Im not sure how to quantify 'undue' but it feels like the bush is not running true if you know what i mean.

Yea me too. Not sure how much yet until I drop it onto the wheels properly. But 20mm sound like what it is going to be at the moment.

I build mine up off the ground too and didnt think about fouling and clearance issues until i put it on the floor

not damaged anything but just feel that with no spacers the bush runs true but with the required spacers it doesnt feel as good as it should..........

I suppose all its going to do is wear the panhard bush a bit more quickly, which is no real drama as its easy enough to whip out and replace if required.
