Crush tube shim/washers needed

The links I'm running are slightly too wide for the crush tube, the bushes are a nice snug fit, but the tube sits inside the bush by approx 0.5mm (I've got top hat style bushes).

I'm struggling to locate a supplier for shim washers- i require 1/2"ID 3/4"OD 0.5-1.0mm wide, got any suggestions?

I'd prefer stainless but don't think it really matters as only a very small area will be in contact with the bush. The only thing I've found so far are sump plug copper washers, which works out very expensive as I can only buy them with a sump plug and i need 16 of them!

Cheers guys

Alex

I used 1/2" stainless washers. You can buy a few different thicknesses if you search around.

I appreciate the locost approach but they probably only cost 20p each if I can find a supplier…. Although I might consider drilling some pennies!

1/2"ID 3/4"OD, do you know of a supplier? I'm going to call superflex to see if they have anything as they made the bushes.

Baked beans tins aren't galvanized, they r tinned steel. When it is cut and drilled it breaks the tinning surface and it rusts - quickly. Don't use BB tins!!! By some SS ones for the cost of em...

I might just be able to help you out here! I needed a similar thing for my Mojo, and ended up having to order around 250-500 of the washers. I'll go and have a dig around in the workshop to find them.

How many do you need?

Cheers
Andy

EDIT: I'll have to double check the dimensions too, but they are fine on my car with a 12mm suspension bolt. Oh and they are steel too, but have been fine fro the last year or so. There has been one on the floor of my garage for a year, right near the door too. No rust so far...

Andy, they would be fine as long as they go over a 12mm bolt. I need 20 although 40 would give me the option to space a little more accuratly.

steel will be fine as contact area will be so small.

I'm happy to supply some beer tokens in exchange for washers and postage...

Just let me know and i'll send u2u with details etc...

I made new crush tubes when I hit this one! Check and see if your local metal supplier has the right tube then cut and file to size cost about the same as buyng small quantities of washers!
