front shocks

I'm currently doing a bit of a revamp on my car.

My front suspension, which is avo, are really in bad condition due to surface rust. They work fine but look a mess.

Do i buy some new ones and springs?? if so do i go for same again or GAZ? and what ibs springs shall i get?

or ia there any way of reconditioning them??

cheers

I find

paint makes things look a lot newer . Get a can of wheel silver round them after you've wire brushed them and then lacquer them up. £4 worth of paint will work wonders. Whereabouts in Chesterfield are you? I'm in Clay Cross.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

The GAZ ones are made of a lightly plated steel, and will rust like your AVOs. The Protech ones as in mooks post are alloy and therefore lighter too. I'd go for these. Spring rates vary, and it's really personal preference. Don't be tempted to go too high - 250 to 275lb should be fine for all but pure track use. I use 250s on my crossflow engined car and it sticks to the road like glue.
