Which Rack for a +4

Getting a bit confused over which rack to use.

Is the Escort Mk1 and Mk2 the same?

Alternatively I've read that it's possible to use either a Cortina or Capri rack and avoid the extensions. However, elswhere I've seen a comment that the Cortina rack has a problem because the input shaft clashes with a chassis member on the +4.

Has anybody actually used either a Cortina or Capri rack with the wider chassis or it it best to stick with an Escort unit and widen it to suit?

Any advice would be much appreciated,
John.

The Escort rack is pretty much perfect for a +4 chassis with respect to the actual rack length. The track rods are a little short so you will need some extensions ( or maybe some longer track rods ends, there was a thread on these recently).

I tried the Cortina rack on mine and sure enough the input shaft coincides almost exactly with the chassis. The track rods are the same length on the Cortina, it's the actual rack that is longer so would probably give worse bump steer than the Escort one.

The other choice is a suitably modified Sierra rack. I think it will still need shortening for a +4" chassis, and will need track rod extensions.
