Unusual sized wishbone bushes required

I bought a set of second hand wishbones a few months ago. Picture Here

I'm having problems finding a set of bushes to fit - the bush tubes are 29mm inside diameter and 29mm wide. These are too large for Triumph bushes to fit.

Does anyone know where I can get a set at a reasonable price? (I'd prefer not to have to pay >£40 for a set of poly bushes. Are there any bushes from any other car that may fit (my local motor factor was less than helpful).

If not, I'm tempted to cut the existing bush tubes off and re-weld tubes to fit Triumph bushes. However this would mean that overall the wishbones would be approx. 5m shorter overall to the pivot point. What would the likely impact be on handling?

Mark, 5mm is quite a large amount in suspension geometry terms. I definitely wouldn't consider the alterations you mention.
Surely you can afford PU bushes, or turn some up from a bit of hollow PU bar?
Fitting 40+ year old Metalastic bushes would be going backwards in my opinion.

Couldnt agree more. The poly bushes for my car worked out to be approx twice as expensive as the Triumph bushes.
But when you take into account;
a) they will not degrade with age
b) they are easier to fit
c) the car will handle better
d) you won t have to chop your wishbones about to fit them
