HELP Knackered thread
I've been to handy with the persuader ( Hammer ) when taking the drive shaft from the hub, what I've done is knacker the thread. Some one
told me to file the edge that's folded over and use a hacksaw to follow the thread on the rest of the shaft, that should work, But guess what it
hasn't. What's the best way to fix this thread. I'm going to ask MK tomorrow what they can do as I'm going down there on Sat
to pick up the kit. Worse case is I have to buy a new shaft.
Any ideas?

A thread file will pull out moderate damage, there are only about £10 but have got me out of all kinds of poo!

do you really need an entire shaft? the ends split seperate fom the rest. mk will probably have a die to suit tho, so may be able to clean it up
properly.

I agree with Mark using a thread file will get you out of the situation. Basically it's a file that will reform/cut a new thread and you can use
them on L/H or R/H thread's. I doubt a die will be available as Ford cut them using single point/thread rolling machinery not a die. Cost for a
die would be in the region £100 for R/H... more for L/H as it would be a special.
Thread files are available from any decent engineering supplier and usually have a number of metric or imperial thread forms on one file... diameter
is not important, thread FORM is.
