Wheel bearing

Just replaced another rear wheel bearing and noticed that the wheel was getting hot after a quick run-out.

Is that normal while the bearing beds in?

Also the hub nut supplied with the kit kept cross threading - correct nut (left side) but obviously a dub.

I put the old nut back on as a temporary measure but is it essential I get a new nut ASAP or should it be okay?

Have you followed the instructions provided with the Bearing or in the Heynes manual for the donor?

If its the type of bearing that has a washer behind the castle or nylock nut.. on some bearings you still need to be able to move that washer if prized with a screwdriver. Otherwise there's too much tension on the bearings and they won't last long.

I had the bearing fitted and the hub pressed at the local auto factors.

It's a sierra hub and I just tightened the hub nut with a socket and an 8ft extension bar.

It does have a large washer behind the nyloc. Have I tightened it too far?
