steering tie rods cortina and escourt

a little while ago I had a minor shunt with my Locost which has resulted in one of my steering tie rods being bent, not that much but enough to require that it be replaced, as I'm reluctant to try to straighten it.
Anyway my question is simply this are the tire rods on escorts and Cortinas the same? in particular are the ball ends the same diameter and the rods the same length? because my local scrapie has a Cortina part but not one for the escort rack.

Thanks in advance chaps because I just know that someone here will be able to tell me if getting the Cortina part will solve my problem.

Best wishes IAIN

Apparently one guy on the old Yahoo group converted a Mk1 Escort rack to Mk2 Escort rack using Cortina parts.

Only possible problem is that in the 1970s many UK manufacturers dual sourced steeing racks
