steering rack
Are the mk1 and 2 escort racks the same?
and does anyone know the distance between the 2 pivot points on the rack?

Physically I think they're the same size, but the threads on the steering arms are different. The Mk1 rack has UNC or UNF threads, while the
Mk2 has Metric.
You are likely to find the Mk2 rack more 'owner-friendly', as it will be easier to find things like steering joints.

IIRC the mk 1 has imperial threads and the mk2 has metric . Stand to be corrected .

Ive got a mk1 rack, only difference is its imperial threads, only prob i've got is getting some imperial extensions made up for mine but the
rack only set me back a tenner and its almost brand new.
Last resort i will make my own on the lathe at work
Track rod ends are same price as Mk2 rack and easy to pick up from any motor shop.

Distance between is about 23"
MK1 is 1/2 UNF rods and MK2 is M14

do the sums and you find that the M14 is larger diameter rod hence stronger if made from same material.
