granada uprights / diff??

Just found an old granada 2.3 L.
and am wondering wether they are the same as on the cortina/taunus. As in can it be conwerted to sierra 4 bolt patern without machine work.
Did it have LSD?

Reason to be or just walk away?

Assume we're talking 77-85 Granada? As in boxy great bugger? The Professionals?

The answer is sadly no. They do have uprights like the Cortina, but they are huge and well beefy. Don't think they could be modified without replacing the hub flange anyway

If it's 85> mk3 Granada, well, the rear end is just a beefier Sierra job, so could be robbed. Haven't looked at the uprights, but ISTR that they are also like the Sierra, and four stud bits swap right over to give you a Sierra pattern.

Hope this helps you out.

Nowt to stop you using them, but you'd have to be desparately unlucky in finding Cortina stuff first.

As for the Diff, it just gets worse. Not an LSD, and it has a sodding great input shaft sticking out the front (to lessen torque reactions apparently, combined with a consequentially shorter propshaft). It also had a weird arse diff ratio if it can from an auto too (something like 2.88:1!)

Altogether, a crap donor. Shame, as the engineering was sound, and the emchanics bomb proof

could hardly get near the beast yes it is the old ocean steamer I saw. the up right looked okay , but all the hubs are triple the size of those on the sierra.
I also found an sierra sedan Ghia couldn't see if it had disks or drums. By the way things are developing i will prob build a locost besad on most sierra parts. apart from the zetec i'd like to put in

Yep, the Sierra is far more desirable as a donor. Also comes with the right gearbox to go with the Zetec for free!
