Ideal Suspension set up?

What is the ideal suspension set up? I have been told that it needs some toe in, but not how much. It currently has lots of toe out to get if to self centre. What about Castor and camber? Cheers for any info.

You might like to get hold of a copy of Des Hammill's book 'How to build and modify sportscar & kit car Suspension & Brakes'; gives a lot of detail with simple easy to understand pictures, probably needs reading a few times to unnderstand it all though. You can get it mail order from Veloce Publishing plc 01305 260068; order online from www.veloce.co.uk; £14.99

always found the best way to set up suspension was to hire a track or a private road and go for trail and error till u find a setup u like but always check the tyre pressures (if they get too high then ur workin tyre too hard) and tempretures across the tyre u can get a guage but ur hand can usually tell if if inside is warmer than outside....

i.e. the warmer it is the harder its workin and therfore quicker it will wear

remember everyones prefered setup will be different in the same car and no too locosts will be the same..

a easy way to check the toe
get two lengths of rhs bout wider than ur car

drill 4 holes 1 in each end of the rhs make sure they are equal distance apart on both lengths of rhs

atach 2 light springs to 1 of the rhs lengths and tie fishing line to them

now set up ur rhs at either end of ur car at the wheel centre hight on axle stands or cable tie them to the car

run the fishing line down and through the hole on the other length of rhs and get even tension on both sides

no the hard part

get the line running parrel down the car we used to use the ends of the stub axles (so a bit of knowledge of ur car comes in usefull so do ur home work and write measurments down)

once everything is square (and with practice and working methodically it isnt as hard as it sounds)

measure from the outside of ur wheel rim to the string at the front and bac of the rim

do a bit of maths and u'll now if ur toe in or out and how far uve adjusted it and have a point to go bac to if u adjust it and it doesnt work.

but remember if u change ur wheel rim it will change the measurement if it isnt the same size or style

and its not as awkward as it sounds HONESTLY!!!!!!!
