Metro balljoints on Sierra uprights?

I'm looking at making new lower wishbones and I'm trying to find round balljoints, to make the design a bit cleaner at the end of the wishbone.
Does anyone know if Metro balljoints (the "screw in" type) would fit Sierra uprights which have been modified to fit Transit balljoints? The tapering of the (MK) modified uprights is 7 degrees right? I believe the tapering of the Metro balljoints is also 7 degrees. But I have no idea about the diameter.

Does anyone know?!?!?

something that is pressed-in. I think Vauxhall Manta B. But somehow I have more confidence in a screwed-in balljoint (as I don't know the correct dimensions (and tolerances!) the pressed in balljoint requires in the wishbone).

Pressed or screwed its always prudent to use some form of retention to stop them unpressing or unscrewing.
I know i would

Not sure the Metro ball joint is suitable for use in the lower wishbone. On the Metro they are screwed into the hub and the suspension load is taken by the upper wishbone so the weight of the car is pushing the balljoint into it's socket rather than trying to pull it out.

Hi.

Do some research on the sylva forums. The sylva setup used metro screw in joints at the top on some models wich used the escort upright or was it Capri. They do come with a locking tab facility on them but i think a few tack welds where used to secure them by Sylva. They then used a sherpa joint as opposed to the transit joint on the bottom to provide camber adjustment.

Cheers Matt

The later Strikers certainly used the Metro balljoint, but again it was screwed into the end of what was originally a strut, so it was used in the 'right' direction.

Hi Mike.

You are right. I was assuming that the OP would be following that method being as the sierra is also strut to clean up the end of the wishbone area. It wouldent make sense to mount the ball joint to the wishbone.

Cheers matt

Edit And now i have just reread the OP post i see we are talking BOTTOM wishbone not TOP. DOh In which case the easiest and cleanest method is to use a rose ball. Similar to the Caterham setup.
