Rant!!!!!
Why is it that a very few on this Forum feel the need to pass a sarcastic comment when someone asks what they consider to be a silly question. We are
not all blessed with infinate wisdom and this site is brilliant for helping those that need guidance or are not super computer litterate like some.
Please, if you consider it stupid dont reply and show yourself up or if you know where the link is for a question asked, just post the link, dont pass
a sarky comment. AND RELAX!!!!

I have been known to make flippant comments now and again, when my self-control fails...
... I don't do sarcastic though (I hope no-one has thought so anyway! )

click on his profile, then 'search for all posts by this user', and you will soon know what he is referring to.
Personally I think he should have had a look through the previous posts on the subject before asking the same question AGAIN, but I ddn't say
so

You haven't been on many forums then? This is a feature of any forum you go to regardless of the subject. Just take the good with the bad and
ignore anything that doesn't help you.
Incidentally, if someone asks a question that has been asked many times before then a sarcastic comment is likely to come their way as it is clear
they didn't bother to try to search themselves before asking someone else to do a search for them.
Sometimes sarcasm is called for.

I always found the silly comments one of the good things about this place.
No-one takes themselves too seriously, everyone's fair game for an occasional harmless jab.
Of course, it's often best to do a search before asking questions anyway, you might not get the exact specific advice you need, but 90% of the
time, it'll be close enough, and you'll have a decent basis for getting your question answered if you've already got most of it
worked out yourself.

I think there's a difference between friendly banter and just being rude to someone, in my opinion its best to be nice and helpful then let the
banter flow when you know someone a bit.
Or, if you think someone's a c*nt then ignore them or u2u them, it's funny what people will write when they aren't standing
face-to-face with someone!
I know its common for people to insult and aggrevate each other on forums but it doesn't seem to happen too much on here, and I think thats why
its a good site.
Thats my 2 cents! Now I can sit back and wait for all the u2u's to come in from people that think I'm a c*nt!

To the Op, it could be worse, you could be called Drew instead of mike?
EDIT to say I just spotted its POCOCK... which makes my joke a bit ridiculous.
if only your first name was Drew and second was Peacock... but thats just dumb.
Hohum... I think I need a sleep.

i think this puts things in perspective, you have got to remember that we are all here to learn but have a laugh whilst doing it. i love this forum
simply because there is such a good group of blokes on here (and women) that you can always have a bit of a joke and banter with. yes, the person who
is asking the question is looking for a sensible response and that person will get one eventually, but you have to expect a bit of banter as well,
i take most things with a pinch of salt, i get slated a bit but i love it, its just one big learning curve for me and if i get the micky taken out of
me for asking an obvious or stupid question then so be it! i knew nothing about engines when i started building and was asking all sorts of rubbish,
but at least know im better off and i can even help others now

I think in the site should get a special section for jokes, might calm people down a bit? Here's one I got earlier;
Michael Jackson is going on tour and has just announced his UK dates. They are Josh age 5, Kyle age 4, Harry age 5, Callum age 6 and Andrew Age 4.
p.s. McLannahan wins the prize for first to u2u me......
