Escort steering rack

I have an Escort MK2 steering rack in my car, but I have just removed it to change it to 2.2 turns. Here is the funny thing, It hasnt been shortened. Either that or someone is very good at micro welding. Any how my question is can someoe please measure the length of the rack body. Not inc the rods etc just the body of an escort one if they have one

Cheers
Brian

Why would it have been shortened? The quick rack just has a different rack and pinion.

I have been led to believe that they were shortend by about 80mm on the westfields. The only thing that is staying westy on the car is the name.

To cure bump steer I pinched 4" out of the rack, 3" out of the housing from memory.

My friend has a prelit westfield, it has a standard rack fitted, someone has butchered the original rack mounts in the past and widened so the above makes sense to me.
