Sierra steering column shortning?

Hi,

Due the lack off room I want to short the sierra column about 8 cm. This where the first UJ is mounted.
Which part off the column is crushable?

shortening the column??? hmmm i,ve just extended mine by about 8inches

i believe the crushable part is the triangular part that slides up into the round tube part that then goes to the steering wheel,
its the bit that has small sections cut out of it so in the event of a head on smash those cut outs deform & stop the wheel being push towards the driver.

does this info help?

andy
