Quaife into Lobro 7"
If I fit a Quaife lsd into my diff, can i reuse the existing lobro shafts or do i need new ones specifically for the quaife unit ?
Diff is a standard sierra 7" lobro type.

AFAIK quaife only do an lsd to suit push in shafts.
To get round this i had custom shafts made by GB engineering with push in splines at the diff end and lobro splines at the hub end.
There would be other ways to get round it of course.

Wadders, how much was that to be made?
I`m looking for something like that for my front diff to use cv joints.
When you say lobro side you mean the 6 hole flane?
Thanks

yeah, but its alot more expencive
I thought that all you had to do was a cut a circlip / snap ring groove on the ends of the stubs (or something like that)
but you definatly need the standard open centre ones (equal length) as the ford LSD type stubs don't work (ones longer than the other)
classic conversions used to do this but there website's diapeared again (I've got a couple of phone numbers you could try - stuart is
realy easy to deal with)

I recently purchased a diff with a Quaife LSD in it, all brand new. Contacted Quaife to see if I could use my Lobro's, "No you need to
buy one of our Lobro LSD's", so contacted again and said what is diffent with your Lobro unit, why won't my Lobro's fit,
"You will have to buy one of our Lobro LSD's". So all in all not a very helpful company, and I would say there Tech. dept.
has "F" all knowledge of there products, and even less in customer care.
Cheers Ray

i have a quaife and when i changed from push-in to lobro i just used a pair of lobro input shafts from a NON LSD sierra diff, much cheaper than
quaifes versions

The problem with inserting the standard flanges is you can't get into the quaife diff to fit the circlips. Not a problem with the push-in
shafts as they are held in by the sprung tripode joints. The lobros aren't sprung, so without the circlips there's nothing stoping the
shafts working their way out of the diff, at least past the oil seals, and maybe to the point of doing some major damage.

thats why classic conversions were modifing them to use some kind of snap ring or something (never got the details as I stuck with a ford LSD for
now)
