Alloy Size

On the car at the moment I have a set of 15" wheels which as far as I can tell (the subject always confuses the bejesus out of me) have an offset of about 3mm.

I measured the wheel from rim-to-rim and reckon it's about 210mm, I then measured from the inner edge to the mating face and got around 108mm, I then subtracted 105 (rim width divided by 2) from that to get 3mm. Is that right?

I need to replace the wheels unfortunately as one of them is badly dented on the inner rim (didn't realise it was as bad until I spun it up).

There are loads on the bay etc. but they all seem to have an offset of around 35mm or so. My issue is clearance between the inner edge and the body at the rear.

Am I right in assuming that if I get wheels that are narrower then I can allow a larger offset? I can probably have the wheels about 25mm nearer to the car but that's about it.

Any ideas/comments please?

JB
