Sierra column mount
Evening y'all.
I've removed the ignition barrel from my Sierra column and shortened the column length overall due to boss/steering wheel [&
spacer]/indicator switch combo - to make it look nice, neat and minimalistic.
The only thing I've noticed is that the upper column mount doesn't feel tight any more, and the column rattles slightly in it. Thelower
mount is fine, but I wondered if there was any replacement part or bearig that has the same mounting pattern to hold the column firmly in place?
I thought I read a post some time ago about someone who found an online bearing company who could supply an equivelant replacement, but i'll be
damned if I can find it using the search function.
Can anyone shed any light, as I'd like to get it done before I go too far on with the rest of the scuttle and wiring?
I know someone knows, so please save my sanity!

It should be sprung loaded to give it some compresion into the bearings.

In my haste of modifying the column, I "lightened" a section of the upper bracket with ignition moounting point etc. with a hacksaw, and
removed the spring and other bits because I'm using electronic button indicators/hazards and assumed I didn't need it or the Sierra
cowling.
Is it best that I replace the spring (if possible), and if so does anyone have one going spare?
I do feel a tad silly now, should've thought it through properly before I got my grubby mits on tools!!!!

The sierra column uses ball races that are preloaded by the spring in order to ensure minimal friction and and no free play. You need the spring at
the bottom of the rack, and the spacer that forms part of the self cancelling mechanism at the top in order for this set up to work as intended.

Damn it, looks like I'll be needing a new column now. Or shrouding, upper mount and all springs/gubbins etc. at a minimum.
Anyone local got one going spare?
