Book built chassis, steering movement ??

while my car is in rebuild mode, i have noticed that when moving the steering, the steering rack moves slightley even though its bloody tight in its rubbers,

But more worryingly the actual steering rack frame (that attaches the rack to chassis ) moves as well

Does any one elses ??? as i think i will brace it

Both front tyres are quite flat, so that could be aiding the problem

I think that most Bob Champion style cars have more bracing than suggested in the book - particularly those that have been finished more recently. I put triangulation to the chassis cross-member behind with L-profile bar. There's no movement. There is however a tiny bit of lateral movement of the rack itself due to compression of the rubber mounts.
Cheers
Dave
