Front wheel dust shields

I have silver alloys on the front and it doesnt take long for them to get very dirty from brake dust. Seem to remember that you used to be able to get dust shields to go on the inside of the wheel to prevent this. Anyone know if they are still available and from where? ( standard Capri Laser alloys)

They use to be sold in Halfords. To be honest though they didn't seem particular effective as they were made from thick rubber which didn't take long to react to the heat and curl up at the edges.

That's if we're talking about the same items.

Best of luck with the search

quick google search for wheel dust shields pulls quite a few variants. Seems a bit different to the design I was thinking of which was back in 87 or so.

I have just bought some new alloys and had the insides painted and laquered so I can wipe them clean, the guy who did the paint told me there is a wax product to protect the wheels from brake dust so that you just wash them and the dust just falls off but he can't remember the name of it..........Anyone on here heard of it?.
Regards Denis.

Where did that go?

one thing that helps is to wipe the wheel with bumper blackener (the clear silicon spray) as that prevents the dust and dirt sticking to the wheel, a trick I use to keep my motorbikes chrome spotless and easy to wash.

Scottoiler make a very thin oil that you spray on to protect alloy and chrome washes off with detergent that may help you I use it on my bike which is basically all chrome and alloy being a cruiser.
