CV joint/driveshaft mix and match

Would anyone know if the splines on the Sierra driveshaft would fit into a FWD CV joint from e.g. Mondeo/Escort etc?

I will post a question for you on the Yorkshire Dales Autograss Forum, I seem to remember that from when I built my grasser, somebody told me that the sierra spline matches Astra GTE CV joints but I need to check on this!

Ok, just had a reply back confirming my memories!

Astra GTE shafts fit Granada CV joints so by default, Granada shafts (which are the same as the Sierra Lobro type shafts) fit into astra CV joints!

You may need to get an alternative circlip groove machined into the shafts but that is only a £5 job at your local machine shop.

Sorted!!

Lovely job, cheers for the help!

Hmm, would I be correct in assuming the non Lobro style driveshafts are non-rebuildable?

I think (but I may be wrong!) that you can get new tripod joints and press them onto the shaft (I see no reason why not anyway!) , but for most "modified" type applications, I think most people use the Lobro type shafts.

I've never rebuilt the Ford tripod type shafts (never actually had a car with them on) but have done the same with Peugeot shafts with tripod joints and you could get those.
