Atlas HP/TQ limit

How much power will an Atlas 3.44 with an LSD handle?

May eventually have sticky tyres and be on a strip...

Which half shafts?.....standard 16t splined or group 4 16t splined 2 peice, or group 4 18t splined 2 peice or fully floating 18t splines (in order of preference/strength....and cost!).

With good shafts you need a lot of torque and grip to break them.

I'm on 270hp/240lb ft with an LSD. I use semi slicks but drive very hard, not had any issues.

Standard axles but possibly seeing 300+bhp and a big bucket of torque from a compound charged 2.3 lima.

Any idea on shaft diameter?

I have the option of a narrowed ford 8.8 but that's costly too.

The splined end (the important part in reality) on the 16t shafts is around 28mm and on the 18t shafts is around 30mm.

The standard axle is generally accepted to be good for 300bhp, fit the quaife or similar 18t shafts and side gears in the zf diff and your good for 500bhp+.

Plenty of info on the atlas axles here;-

the ford 8.8" has 32.7mm dia shafts and the 7.5" axle has 30mm shafts

and they have LSDs as standard.

I think I'll just go for something thats in abundance here in Canada.

Thanks peeps
