Wilwood master cylinder plumbing
Right, I'm in a bit of a pickle and unsure how to proceed
The pic below is the master cylinder with the supplied gold colour fitting then a male 3/8 brake fitting, when screwed in the male fitting is only in
by 1 1/2 turns, which I'm not happy with
My plan is to use a different flare to suit the cylinder and miss out the gold fitting, is there any reason why I can't do this? Also I will
need a longer male fitting as the hole is quite deep
I'm guessing the gold fitting is maybe to protect the aluminium cylinder from having brake pipes screwed in and out but I'm unsure

I suspect the willwood is an imperial fitting and you have a zinc plated adaptor to take a metric tube nut.
Phoned the local ramblers club today, but the bloke who answered just
went on and on.

Are you sure that the gold coloured Wildwood adaptor is not an adaptor for fitting a banjo? That's what it looks like to me.

I reckon that gold colour bit is an imperial to metric (m10 I think?) Adapter

What would be the point of that? I think m10 OR a convex to concave adapter

Pretty sure the Wilwood master is metric. The adapter is metric both sides but a single flare to double flare adapter (never worked out why
you'd want one). Lose it and make a pipe with m10x1 union and a single (convex) flare.
An m10x1 wil screw into a unf but will be a sloppy fit. A unf union will only go in a couple of threads in a metric hence yours binding up.

Wildwood is 'murican, its all imperial. Also you have your M10 and UNF mixed up. 3/8 unf will scew sloppily into an M10 female thread as 3/8
major OD is 9.525mm, M10 major OD is bigger so it won't screw into a 3/8 unf female thread.
The adaptor might be for an 1/8npt fitting, Wildwood love that size, its what the calipers are.

No it's got a convex seat in the bottom

Yeah that's right deff 3/8, it's not npt, also if it was npt would it have a convex seat in the bottom?

It's not fine enough for npt, the problem is that the adapter doesn't have much thread and not very deep so once you've got you
brake flare on the end of your fitting your left with two turns and it's tight, just doesn't seem enough for me to feel it's safe
