English axle LSD - fitting
Evening all - I've got a live-axled locost running a zetec through a live axle. Have done a number of trackways (and roundabouts) and feel like
an LSD would be a good upgrade!
I have a high-level understanding of the difference between the quake ATB type units and the plate diffs, but what I don't understand is how
they're fitted. I've got a 3.54 diff in the car at the moment, but also have a 3.89 that I'd like to fit to improve acceleration
(fifth gear is currently an overdrive anyway, I'm sure v-max would be achieved in fourth). Is doing that completely separate from fitting the
LSD? Is fitting an LSD something that could be done DIY? My understanding is the plate type ones require some proper setup, make more noise (not too
fussed about that), but work when a wheel is off the ground, whereas the Quaife ATB ones are fit and forget?
