Different types of maxi ball joint

Whilst I'm asking for info, may as well add this. There seems to be two types of maxi ball joint for front lower. The one with a bolt either side, and the one that screws into a large thread in the wishbone. Are the both from Austin Maxis? What's the difference? Model? Age? Any reason against using the threaded one? How does it stay in?

Cheers!

The other is maxi , allegro, princess , ambassador 3 liter

This one is not tapered like the two bolt.

I found this on google image.

I maybe wrong but it looks like a bolt goes through the ball joint and the bottom arm

Thanks Jacko. Interesting if it's not tapered! Might have to take it all apart and see.

The Sierra based MK Indy I built used the 2 bolt Maxi ball joints. I think I may even have got them from MK when I got the chassis, wishbones etc.

From memory MK had to ream the lower holes of the Sierra uprights to suit the taper of the Maxi joints.
