LT77

Chaps

I've been offered an LT 77 gearbox.

The guy who's selling it has informed me it was last used in 1987.

Me thinks internal things might have started going rusty.

Any other opinions before I part with my hard earned cash.

Thanks

I've never hard of a disused gearbox going rusty, but that's just me, others might be hearing of it every day. The LT77 gearbox is the one that was fitted to the Rover SD1 V8 and Triumph TR7, has been used in some Leyland vans as well.
A lot depends on which bellhousing it has and whether or not that suits.
Good box, stronger but not as smooth as the best Ford boxes

John,

Likewise - never heard of a box going rusty, but then I've not bought a box unused for 15 years.

Apparently it's out of a TR8.
