Cortina V Maxi BJ

In a flurry of impulsiveness I just bought a pair of Cortina BJs. As those that have used them will know they have four bolt holes. Two of them either side of the BJ and two larger ones at the back on a 'kick up' part of the casting.

The Maxi ones have no 'kick-up' and rely on the two bolt holes either side- although the holes/appropriate bolts may well be larger.

What I'm wondering is the possibility of cutting off the inconvenient 'kick-up' of the Cortina and using just the two bolt holes (maybe enlarged for bigger bolts if necessary).

I realise the weight saving is minimal but I see advantages in not having to make a matching 'kick-up' on the wishbone.
Cutting off the offending metal would prevent the SVA man getting upset about two 'un-bolted' areas.

Info greatfully recieved!

Thanks,

James

Sometime ago I bought a pair of what I thought would be cortina balljoints from MK. I didn't study them when they arrived, I did note that they had two fixing holes, very much like the maxi joints that James describes. When I later acquired a pair of 'book' wishbones I found that the bolt holes on the BJ's were closer together than the ready drilled holes on the wishbones. 'must have sent the wrong ones', I thought, but the tapers fitted fine in the cortina uprights, and I noticed that the pics of book wishbones on the MK website show provision for two bolt holes, just like the BJ's I already have.
I suppose I could ring MK and ask, but that can be a bit of a long-winded process.
Perhaps you would like to swap BJ's, James?
