Wishbone material ???
I want a set of custom wishbones, the tops mainly. I want to build in 25mm offset to give a propper 6 deg of castor.
I was going to buy them but its harder work than i thought
So I am thinking off having a go my self
Q) Will 25mm 16swg CDS be ok. Its about all my supplier can get me. I will have to buy a full length, That doesnt worry me.
BUT WILL THIS BE UPTO IT ?
regards all warren

Bit thin for my liking.
Theoretically ok but I'd rather go for thicker tube than that.
Should be able to get CDS fairly easily from hydraulics suppliers, cold drawn hydraulic tubing.

I would've thought it'd be ok. The standard book bones are 19mm 16swg stuff. Just increasing the diameter overcomes the majority of
problems, but if you want to be really sure go for 14 or even 12 gauge. You'll have to try REALLY hard to break a 12 gauge bone, especially the
top one, which sees relativaly little force compared with the bottom bone.

If you're going the thick wall route try sourcing some that has the same bore size, or close to, as the tapping hole size for the joint
you're going to use. This will do away with having to use an insert for the joint.

As I mentioned, hydraulics suppliers are a good bet for small qty's of cds tubing.
There are branches of Pirtek in Peterborough and Lincoln, either of which will furnish you with some 20mm OD by 2.5mm wall metric hydraulic tubing, or
any other size that you may require.
