brake upgrade (cortina hubs)

hi all

what will fit in the cortina hubs ( brake wise ),
as I'm fed up of the cortina calipers binding (3 pairs of recon calipers this year and only 3000miles)
i know the firm swaps them every time but that's not the point !

would like a locost option if there is one

Pump the pistons out so far and put some brake grease round them then push them back in. Are the rubber dirt seals intact on the calipers?

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Might be stating the obvious --
The problem isn't the calipers it is the master cylinder piston not going back far enough to allow fluid to return to the resevoir to allow for fluid expansion as the calipers warm up -- this problem has been covered in many many threads it can be as simple as a badly adjusted pedal stop or a lack of a pedal return spring or it can be more difficult to track down usually the mushrom head of the pedal push-rod is too big.

tried all the stuff.
evan replaced the flexy ( as i had a spare )
i even drove the car with the circlip removed from the master cylinder . ( not advised)
the last time they were leaking on the joints

Princess calipers will fit on the Cortina hubs - enables you to go for larger discs as well. you could even get a spacer kit and use vented discs.
