Boots!
Hi all
Has any one used the drive shaft boots that you stretch over the drive shaft?
If so how good are they, from where did you get them and how much did they cost.

If you mean the sort which come with a split down the side and a tube of superglue yes I have used them. They seemed to work fine - universal sizing
so just cut the ends at the correct diameter. My main thought was that it must be essential to ensure no grease gets in the groove which you glue
before the glue.
The ones I used didn't leak at all, and my local MOT place says he often uses super glue to repair small splits in CV joints.

Typed this all 30 seconds ago. Wasn't logged in so here goes again.
Yes stretch fit boots are commonly used in the garage trade where the joint cannot be removed for various reasons (commonest is the french cars where
you have to remove the inner joint to fit the outer boot!).
Some vehicle specific boots can also be strech fitted also, but you will in all case need a fitting cone (available from most good factors, about a
tenner) place cone onto joint, turn boot inside out and liberally apply copper slip or silicone grease to what is now the inside of the boot (was the
outside) then simply (tee hee hee) push the boot over the cone, remove cone from joint, turn the boot the right way out, trim large end to best fit
and apply cable ties/boot clamps. Job done.
