lower balljoint front suspension

A while ago i found some photoes of 7 like front suspension that look very good. On a Donkervoort that is, the lower balljoint looks the same as the on on top of the upright . Does anyone have an explanation why we're not using / making a set up like that? Looks easy no flat bits on the lower wishbone. no drilling appart from the threat needed.

Will try and post them some time this week.
