How much grease?

Hi, im more used to new style bearings that just need a smear of grease usually supplied with the bearings. But with older sierra(stock rear)/cortina(front alloy hubs) stuff with tapered bearings and grease caps how much grease should i pack them with - just a smear over each roller bearing and the touching surfaces or as much as i can get in there before the grease cap?
Cheers
Adam

You want no more than 2/3 of the space filled... and don't fill the caps, thats just done by weekend mechanics. Any more and you'll just spin it out.

I didn't fill my caps with grease. Can I be an honorary weekday mechanic?
