Widetrack Bones

Hi all.

I am building a +442 with 52" axle, after roughing together the rear end including wheels, I am looking at around 47.5-48" (not sure what spacers to use yet) between tyre inner edges. I am going to have to lengthen the wishbone arms to get the required track. I have been advised that the best way to do this is to keep the ratio of width between mounting bushes to distance of balljoint from centre line of bushes the same so this will mean that the mounting brackets will be further apart than the book chassis. What are the views on how best to support the rear mounts? I thought of adding a second upright behind FU1 and FU2. Any input gratefully received.

Can't see the point of widening the inboard ends. I would just extend them in length to the distance that will couple everything up. Just how I would do it. Cheers Ray

You would widen to lessen the load when braking as the twisting forces would increase.

Buy wide track bones form Westfield and these would locate on standard mounts so its not an issue in this instance.

I am using a 52" capri axle. I just added 2" to both top and bottom bones.

there are wide bones on ebay and again they just make them wider. the mountings remain the same.
