Help with axle rebuild ?
Can any one tell me of a firm near to Spalding/Peterborough that can rebuild / set the crown wheel and pinion on a capri axle.
I was going for a full rebuild but as there is nothing wrong with the bearings I want to keep costs down for now.
I have spoken to a firm called Fostek but its going to cost me £150+ to get it there and back on a pallet.

A1 Gearboxes in St Neots should be able to help, have used them in the past for gearbox repairs and have always been very pleased with their work.

If all you have done is strip it down and put back together then just adust up until it starts to bind, then back off a tad so its free running.
I changed the diff on a capri years ago, thats all I did and it was okay for thousands of miles.
Okay sounds a bit naff but when we raced landrovers we used to wind the diffs up tight to get rid off all backlash to stop chattering and
breakages.
Its not a £150 precise job thats for sure, not with old parts.
