DVLA procedure following SVA
Following successful SVA test at Southampton last week, took forms to Theale DVLA office this morning to start registration procedure.
Good news - they offered to do a home visit for the inspection (didn't realise this was available).
But, surprised that an MOT test is required.
So, went for MOT this afternoon, but they needed additional paperwork before completing the emissions test.
Anyway, no problem, means we get another tax free ride in the car tomorrow.
Is home visit and MOT requirements the norm ?
Any idea how long we will have to wait for the home visit ?

No MOT required !!!!!
I was quoted 2 months for home visit.
Took it to the office 2 days later.
All done and dusted, taxed, number plate the lot.
Just to repeat.,..NO MOT.

Second that, my local DVLA office insisted I needed an MOT, but when the inspector came to visit he confirmed that no MOT was required.
That was last week, still no plates though

I was fairly sure about the MOT, but decided not to argue, in case the offer of home visit was retracted.
If I have to wait 2 months, I might regret that.
Who does the home visit, is it from the DVLA office, or a VOSA centre ?

Some chap from the DVLA to check colour vin numbers and if my components were all new as in the reciepts. My inspector came the day after
I went to my local DVAL in Sidcup

DVLA do the inspection..
They cant refuse a home visit..
They can drag their heels though.
But hey ho whats new...

Newcastle dvla insisted on an mot
before they would register my mk.
This seems to be a bit of a grey area
with different centres,my car is now stuck in the mot loop
On the plus side they issued a tax disk
and no plate authorisation there and then.

Got to love the inconsistency! I registered at the same office, but only just had my first MOT in November.

When they inspected mine it was booked into Thatcham the following week and took all of 10mins.
Maybe a quicker route.
Lady called Sally Crane at Theale then turned the paperwork round in a couple of days.
Deffo no MOT required until 3 years old.
Good luck - not long now.

Or did they insist on a trailer ?

No mot needed for me last month.
Speak to the inspector direct and see what they say.

Agreed, no mot for me either, but not sure if I get 3 years without as it an age related plate I have, have heard most get away if taxing online but
heard recently that this has been stopped.
So not sure, suppose its no biggie if it has to have an mot sometimes it might be beneficial to have another expert pair of eyes cast there eye over
it just in case I've missed anything.

I have age related plates and no MOT for 3 years confirmed by local DVLA office.
My declared build year was 2005 1st MOT due 1st Jan this year, no MOT requirement period starts at the end of the build year.
