Poor running Zetec 2 litre
Just got the 2 litre zetec started and running, It jumps up to about 2000rpm and then drops to 500rpm, and sounds like its about to cut out, then
jumps up a bit, but it won't settle . What is the likely cause of this ?
It also seem to spit out from the expansion tank overflow, I have the outlet of the expansion tank going into what I am convinced is the inlet of the
heater pump, (manifold side of the engine) is this right ? or what is causing the spitting ? (its more noticable when the engine revs)
Cheers

What year was the Mondeo?
Was it fitted with a Lambda sensor and if yes, have you fitted one in your set up?

Thats what I thought.
so the engine is "hunting".
They do that as they are trying to run as lean as posible.
Once warmed up it will run closed loop on the lambada.
So is the lambada heating and working and the outher big thing to look for on these are air leaks on the manifold.
Have you blocked of the brake servo take off. There are also vac take offs for the egr and somthing elts I cant remember of the top of my head. Are
you running the emisions stuff or have you dumped it ?

Yup, the lamba thing is the standard one, wired in as instructed to the ECU.
What do you mean by closed loop ?
Its in a MEV rocket, The manifold has never come off, How do I test the Lambda sensor is working ?
The temp reading got to 62, so I presume it got warm enough.
