Exhaust manifolds

Hello

What manifold is best for a bike engined kitcar.

I have had my car rolling roaded and my setup is a MNR 4 into 1 with a standard R1 can.

I origanaly had a Scorpion can fitted which really restricted it and when i changed to the std R1 can it released another 7 BHP at the wheels!!!.Done during the session as a direct comparison!

The guy who rolling roaded it said if i wanted to go further then i should be running a 4 into 2 into 1 manifold which he would expect to see another 7 - 10 BHP released.

I have got to say over the years that i have been to alot of rolling road sessions and this guy know's his stuff, specialises in bikes and side car racer's for TT and Superbike.
The engine is a 2001 R1 with carb's

What are you guy's using and have any of you had similar experiances?
Can anybody recommend a good manifold builder who knows what he is doing ie best pipe lengths etc?

I hate it when something is not as good as it could be due to a aftermarket part!!

Thanks

Ive got an MNR 4-2-1 manifold on mine. Got a large exhaust from Europa designed for kitcars.

i havent had it rolling road tested yet, as its only due for SVA later this month, but once its on the road im going to get it setup properly

Exhaust

try

http://www.zorstec.net/

He built our 4-2-1 for a 2006 R1 5VY engine.

Look on my photo archive to see exhaust build quality. Never got it to rolling road though. Not cheap but knows his stuff.

I have heard excellent gain can be had via a performance air box, I know AB do a very good one for the blade, unsure about an r1. But combine it with some jetting and there are significant gains to be had.

As usual, its best to look at both sides of the engine, both the intake and the exhaust to get the best from your engine.

Don't now if it helps but Dave Bogg looked at my exhaust manifold and said Martin Keenan makes very good manifolds that flow well
