Widest slick tyre on a 5.5J rim?
Two sizes available:
16/53-13 and 20/54-13
only rims available are 5.5j x 13
Would you be happy running the wider tyres on a rim that narrow?
I know plenty of people run 195 road tyres on 5.5j rims, but I have no experience of slicks.
Cheers

Alistairolsen,
I cannot answer your question, but i was always told that ideally you want the thinnest width tyre for a rim, for best road holding. If you need
wider tyres, can you not go up a size in rims?
cheers

im aware of that in an ideal world. this is for a one off, i have some rims and buying more would be prohibitively expensive!!

I'd stick to the 16/53s. According to the Michelin fitting guide
HERE they're OK for 5.5" to 8" rims.

I had 16/53 michelins on 13x5.5s and they were too wide for the wheel tbh. Too much bulge!

Never actually ran them, they're still sat there in my garage! Got hold of a cheap set of worn A048Rs so they went on instead.
