Column Bush Another Way
Following the earlier post re the sierra column bush, this is the method Ive used.
Got hold of a spherical bearing from a local bearing specialist (about a fiver), drilled a suitable hole in some 3/16 plate, welded the bearing to the
plate then welded the plate to the chassis.
This seems more secure, safer and longer lasting than using the Sierra compliance bush which was designed for a specific housing HTH.
Cheers,
Bob

Welded the housing obviously, after dismantling the bearing assembly, sounds rough I know but it works.

That page is slightly wrong, the bearing is a SLFL25
I picked one up from www.bearingboys.co.uk, was the cheapest I could find.
Worth mentioning that it's not quite perfect on an indy due to the way their bushing mount is, needs a bit of modding to that (like cutting it
off )

Cheers for that, between the various posts that offered solutions I now understand how the replacement bearing works.
For now I've secured it with a tie wrap to test it as I couldn't get a jubilee clip into the space. If the tie wrap works I'll
replace with the new bearing set up as a winter mod.

The bearing I used fitted the column perfectly it just slipped over the column end.
I did take the column down to the Bearing specialist (on a Saturday morning when their boss wasnt in), Ive always found that a lot of companies are
always eager to help if you tell them what you are doing and they are always willing to give you trade discount.
Cheers,
Bob

Have people made a bit enough hole in the bulk head then bolted it on using 2 bolts through the holes either side.
Seems easy enough in an indy, just need to remove the angles bush mount as said.

Just in the process of doing mine now.
Currently waiting for some paint to dry, but the plan is bolt through the plates, nuts on to hold the bearing, bolts through the firewall and more
nuts on the other side to hold it steady.
Had to remove the bushing mount because the triangle-y bit of the column was hitting it, but you might get away without, depending on the angle of
your column (as the actress said to the bishop)
Will get a couple of photos once it's done.
